About Food Rescue Initiative
The Food Rescue Initiative was created to address food insecurity in La Porte County by redirecting surplus food to those who need it most. Through partnerships with local retailers, food banks, and community organizations, we recover high-quality food that would otherwise go to waste and put it to meaningful use.
We turn excess into opportunity, providing reliable access to food while reducing waste and strengthening our community.

From Surplus to Community Support
The Food Rescue Initiative operates through a coordinated system that collects, distributes, and delivers food where it’s needed most.
- Host mobile food distribution events to reach underserved areas
- Transport and sort food for safe distribution
- Deliver to pantries and shelters across the county
- Collaborate with regional and national partners to expand impact
