Sand Castle Shelter for Homeless Families
Sand Castle Shelter provides safe, temporary housing and supportive services for families in La Porte County who are experiencing homelessness. Our goal is to help families regain stability, build independence, and transition into permanent housing with confidence and support.
About Sand Castle Shelter
Sand Castle Shelter for Homeless Families is a 30-45 day residential program in La Porte County providing safe shelter for families working toward stable housing. We primarly serve single mothers with children, as well as two-parent households and fathers when space allows. When availability permits, single women may also be accepted. All residents must be drug and alcohol free at intake and ready to participate in a structured program focused on long-term housing stability.
We provide a safe, structured environment where families can stay together while working toward permanent housing.

What’s Happening at Sand Castle?
We invite community members who want to support our families to connect with the Program Director to learn about current opportunities. Volunteering your time, sharing your talents, or donating resources, especially for children and during the holidays, helps create a sense of normalcy and comfort. Whether it’s a game night for the kids, offering haircuts, or simply showing up with compassion, these acts of kindness can transform the space from a shelter to a home.
